symbols

At L.A Boxing it is sometimes hard to discern between something that is a symbol and something that is not. The boxing ring is one such object that can be interpreted in either way. In my opinion given that the ring is located right as you enter the gym makes it symbolic. It's raised and so everyone inside the ring immediately seem bigger than they actually are. The drinking fountain is another such object. You notice as you workout here that no one will go for the fountain until they are completely being drenched in sweat. For them the water fountain is an unsaid object of something they need to earn to get. The punching bags however I don't find to be symbolic. The punching bags here are merely to train without any emphasis on the meaning of the bags. Dumbbells here are also another thing that someone can be on the fence about. When you start your workout you are overestimating yourself and underestimating the workout and grab dumbbells that you suspect to be "easy" to later learn that it's what you do with the dumbbells that will kick your ass making you later get much lighter weights. And these are the four objects of LA of symbolic meaning.

LA BOXING! Home of that guy!

L.A Boxing is a gym on State St. where you can learn how to fight. Brutal I know, but also fun to a lot of people. It won't be very often that any of these people will look like that. Usually they look like....
The guys on the top... I couldn''t drag them down... They were just TOO STRONG.
The reason I'm researching L.A Boxing is because I have never boxed in my life, I'm a lover not a fighter... but I fight too so don't get any ideas.... I want to take some lessons and meet the people and see if all people who fight are well... complete tools... or if there are more fighters who fight for themselves and not for anyones extra attention. Those are the people I want to talk to the ones in it just for themselves and not for anyone elses appreciation. This fighting gym is interesting in particular because it's a main stream gym and widely accepted whereas most of the independent gyms are not.
